The ArsNova team will participate in MedRen 50 (Uppsala, 4-7 July 2022)

The fiftieth edition of the “Medieval and Renaissance International Music Conference” (MedRen 2022), organised by the Department of Musicology of the University of Uppsala, will be held between July 4th and July 7th 2022. The team of project ArsNova will participate in this important event with a panel entitled “Trecento Fragments and Counting”, including the following papers:

  • Giacomo Ferraris: The Catalogue of the European Ars Nova Project: Fragmentary Sources;
  • Michele Epifani: A New Fragment of Trecento Polyphony from the Ariostea Library;
  • Antonio Calvia (with Federico Saviotti and Anne Stone): Two Old Friends Meet after Centuries. The Scattered Fragments of the San Fedele-Belgioioso Codex.

During different sessions, Giacomo Ferraris will also present the paper Machaut’s “Longanotation”? Some short reflections on his modus-based compositions, whereas Carlos Iafelice will deliver a paper entitled Tonal space organization in Gherardello’s madrigals.
